Florida Republican Rep. Allen West has conceded defeat to novice Democrat Patrick Murphy for the 18th Congressional District of Florida.

West had demanded a recount of early votes and has protested numerous voter irregularities in San Lucia and Palm Beach counties.

“While many questions remain unanswered, today I am announcing that I will take no further action to contest the outcome of this election,” said West.

Florida Representative Sandy Adams, a GING-PAC endorsed candidate lost her primary run against Rep. John Mica. Adams and Mica were forced into a primary race when their districts were redrawn.
