The Congressional Prayer Caucus, co-founded by GING-PAC Congressman Randy Forbes (R-VA), is closely monitoring the relentless attacks on religious liberty in the U.S. Armed Forces. The situation is getting worse, not better and began in 2009, shortly after Obama took office.

In March 2009, atheist Mikey Weinstein got his first meeting with Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwarz. Weinstein is head of an outfit known as the Military Religious Freedom Foundation. It is his goal to cleanse the military of all Christian evangelization. He has compared sharing of one’s faith to spiritual rape and akin to treason against the U.S.

Thanks to an Obama Administration that is openly hostile to Christianity and Judaism, Weinstein is apparently being successful in his religious cleansing effort.

The Pentagon’s Problem With Proselytizing: Evangelicals lately have detected worrying signals from the military. Wall Street Journal: “So is the case about Pentagon policy closed? Not at all, say some religious-liberty advocates. For one thing, the Pentagon statement clarifying that military personnel would not be court-martialed if they ‘evangelize’ also said that ‘proselytization’ is considered a Uniform Code of Military Justice offense. Yet the definitions of those two words are almost identical: Merriam-Webster defines proselytization as ‘to recruit or convert especially to a new faith, institution, or cause’ and evangelize as ‘to preach the gospel to or to convert to Christianity.’ . . . The ambiguity of how these regulations are defined and enforced . . . could lead men and women in the military to fear retribution and choose to remain silent: ‘After all, who defines what is proselytizing and what is evangelism? What could seem to be a friendly conversation about spiritual matters to one serviceperson could be perceived or deliberately mischaracterized as ‘proselytizing’ to the person on the receiving end. The fact that this has been raised at all in such a subjective fashion could have a chilling effect on service personnel sharing their faith at all.’ If the Pentagon wants to reassure soldiers that they won’t be persecuted for sharing their faith, the fact that military leaders have met with Mikey Weinstein, founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, isn’t helping. Launched in 2006 and with $700,000 in reported donations in 2011, the foundation fights what Mr. Weinstein decries as the undue influence of evangelical Christians in the U.S. military. . . .

“The Pentagon is still struggling to contain the rumors that unsettled so many evangelicals in recent weeks. The erroneous reports do need to be corrected. But military leaders should recognize that the rumors spread far and fast in part because they were so believable.”

Pentagon Began Relationship with Anti-Christian Extremist in 2009. Breitbart:  “The Obama-Hagel Pentagon is trying to minimize Breitbart News’ blockbuster story last week of top brass meeting with anti-Christian extremist Mikey Weinstein, whom we reported calls Christians ‘monsters’ imposing a ‘rapacious reign of theocratic terror’ and says sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in the military is an act of ‘sedition and treason’ that must be punished. . . . The New York Times reported on Mar. 1, 2009, in a story entitled, ‘Questions Raised Anew About Religion in Military,’ that Weinstein met with the Air Force Chief of Staff, Gen. Norton Schwarz, on Feb. 24, 2009. The story noted this was the first time Weinstein and his Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) had ‘gotten an audience with a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.’”

Lawmaker: Military Developing Culture Hostile to Religion. Fox News: “Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-CO) is circulating a letter on Capitol Hill seeking assurances from the Department of Defense that the religious freedoms of service members are protected. He also wants to know who the Pentagon has been consulting with on revisions to religious freedom regulations. ‘Congress deliberately included religious freedom protections in the NDAA (National  Defense Authorization Act) to address this growing pattern of hostility and to protect the constitutionality guaranteed right of religious freedom for our service members and chaplains,’ Lamborn wrote in a letter obtained by Fox News.  President Obama took the unusual step of noting that the conscience protections were ‘unnecessary and ill-advised.’ Lamborn said the president’s statement – along with reports of Christianity under attack have raised ‘concerns that the military is developing a culture that is hostile to religion.’”

Boykin warns that there is a concerted effort by atheists like Mikey Weinstein to silence Christians from sharing or openly practicing their faith in the military.

Weinstein hates Christians, but has been meeting with high-ranking officials inside the Obama-run Pentagon. His goal is to criminalize the sharing of the Gospel.

Obama, as Commander-in-Chief, could easily put an end to this coming persecution of Christians within the military, but it is unlikely that he will. His ideological and theological commitment is more in line with that of Islam and Black Liberation Theology (an offshoot of Marxist Liberation Theology) taught to him by his former Pastor Jeremiah Wright – a vicious anti-Jewish and anti-capitalist leader.

Boykin describes the dangers that Christians are facing within the military:

On April 23rd, anti-Christian activists met with senior Air Force officials to discuss pressing issues in the U.S. Air Force. What issues would be of such importance to gain such a high-level hearing?

According to these anti-Christian activists, religion is one of the chief problems plaguing our troops. As the Washington Post reported, some are saying that “religious proselytizing” is at the top of the list of problems in the armed forces — even on par with sexual assault.

Over several years, these anti-Christian activists have complained and the Air Force has repeatedly responded by blocking expressions of faith. In a step in that process, the Air Force published a document last summer with the directive that leaders of all levels (including chaplains) may not “promote their personal religious beliefs to their subordinates or to extend preferential treatment for any religion.”

Coercion has always been forbidden by military policy, and troops are free to have a faith or no faith. However, this policy is being used to suppress religious expression. For example, an Air Force officer was reportedly ordered to remove a Bible from his desk.

In a speech last week, Coast Guard Rear Admiral William Lee validated that the hostile environment for Christians extends beyond the Air Force. He recounted a story of his decision to violate the rules preventing him from giving a Bible to a service member who had attempted suicide.

Lt. General Boykin has launched a petition campaign to the Secretary of Defense to urge him to reject Weinstein’s effort to criminalize Christianity within the military.

Rep. Louie Gohmert: America Must Stop Paying Its Enemies 

A longtime goal of gay activists was to overturn the ban on homosexuals openly serving in the military. They accomplished that goal in Obama’s first term.

Now, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta has decided that women should have the “right” to die in ground combat operations.

David Horowitz, a former Communist revolutionary, understands the Marxist roots of feminism and the hatred feminists have for the military. Horowitz wrote an essay on the feminist assault on the military back in 1992. In it, he describes the ongoing attacks against it by Marxist feminists.

In his essay, Horowitz writes:

“Radical feminists are social engineers in the same way that Communists are social engineers. They deny that there is a human nature, and they deny that there is a female nature, that human biology in any way fundamentally influences who or what we are. The solution to all social problems, conflicts and disappointments in life is to manipulate laws and institutions so as to create liberated human beings – beings who will not hate, have prejudices, exhibit bad sexual manners, get into conflicts, or go to war. By changing institutions, especially powerful institutions like the military, and using their administrative power to brainwash people into adopting attitudes that are politically correct, these radicals believe that the problems that have plagued mankind since the dawn of creation will be miraculously cured.”

The destruction of the military is almost complete – thanks to queer activists, feminists, and Obama.

Elaine Donnelly, head of the Center for Military Readiness, has published a 42-page report on the dangers of placing women in ground combat operations. According to Donnelly:            

“Following orders from President Barack Obama, lame-duck Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has recklessly announced unilateral nullification of direct ground combat exemptions that are important to the majority of military women who serve in the enlisted ranks. Secretary Panetta has excluded Congress and the American people from the decision-making process, and imposed a radical ‘diversity’ agenda on our military without disclosing the data and results of extensive research on the subject of women in land combat that the Marine Corps conducted last year. Congress should insist on seeing data gathered during the Marines’ research, and conduct immediate oversight hearings before harmful policies imposed by the outgoing Secretary of Defense become de facto law.”

According to Gaffney:

Unfortunately, as demonstrated conclusively in a free, web-based video course entitled “Muslim Brotherhood in America: the Enemy Within” released last week by the Center for Security Policy, far from understanding the danger posed by the rest of the jihadist enterprise, the Obama administration is actually making it stronger.

The evidence presented in this course suggests that could be due, at least in part, to the six Muslim Brotherhood-associated individuals the Center has identified who are either on the government’s payroll, advising it and/or being used for outreach to the American Muslim community.

Gaffney says the Obama Administration is “fundamentally misconstruing the nature of the enemy” and is engaged in a “wrecking operation” in respect to our military’s capability to project power in the world.

Despite pleas from the Obama White House, a Senate-House Conference Committee has restored the military’s ban on sodomy and bestiality in the National Defense Authorization Act.

CNSNews reports that the Obama Administration had pleaded that the repeal of the ban be kept in the bill, but members of the House Armed Services Committee weren’t convinced.

Article 125 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice says that “(a) Any person subject to this chapter who engages in unnatural carnal copulation with another person of the same or opposite sex or with an animal is guilty of sodomy. Penetration, however slight, is sufficient to complete the offense. (b) Any person found guilty of sodomy shall by punished as a court-martial may direct.”

The Senate had voted 93-7 to repeal the ban on sodomy and bestiality just two weeks ago. Both Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-NC) said they were both unaware that the Senate version of the bill had repealed the ban.

Unfortunately, the conference committee also dropped language proposed by Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO) and Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO) that supports the federal Defense of Marriage Act. The language was replaced by a provision that guarantees that military chaplains won’t be forced to perform same-sex marriages.

The undermining of our military accelerates under Obama and the Democrat-controlled Senate.

Last week, the Senate Armed Services Committee voted to overturn the military’s ban on sodomy and bestiality. The vote repeals Article 125 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). This overturn comes a year after Obama effectively overturned the ban on homosexuals serving openly in the military. It passed by 93-7.

Former Army Colonel Bob Maginnis told CNS News that bestiality could still be prosecuted under Article 134, which provides for maintaining “good military order and discipline” but it’s not likely.

Said Maginnis:

If we have a soldier who engages in sodomy with an animal — whether a government animal or a non -government animal — is it, in fact, a chargeable offense under the Uniform Code? I think that’s in question. Soldiers, unfortunately, like it or not, have engaged in this type of behavior in the past. Will they in the future, if they remove this statute? I don’t know.

This overturn now goes to a conference committee of both the House and Senate. The House version of the National Defense Authorization Act contains a provision that supports the Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage as a one-man, one-woman union.

Last week, Rep. Randy Forbes (R-VA) held a hearing of the House Readiness Subcommittee on threatened budget cuts to our military. Several military officers testified before the committee on how damaging the cuts would be to our national security. Among them were:

Chiarelli, Vice Chief of Staff, U.S. Army“If I had to look around town and read what all the think tanks are saying, they seem to be discounting the requirement for ground forces which is a natural tendency after what we’ve been through in the last 10 years, but every other time we’ve done that in our history, as I indicated before, we have done so on the backs of servicemen and women, soldiers on the ground… let’s be honest. It has cost us lives. It cost us lives at Kasserine Pass. It cost us lives at Task Force Smith in Korea. And quite frankly in some portions of the world if we are not able to break that anti-access environment, I believe that we will be in the position where we will not be able to guarantee that air dominance, or air supremacy to our sea and land forces as we operate over them.”
