The battle between Karl Rove and the conservative movement is heating up – and it’s only going to get worse.
Rove has established the misnamed “Conservative Victory Project,” which is designed to block what it considers are “lousy candidates” for the House and Senate. What constitutes a “lousy candidate”? Well, that will include Tea Party candidates and social conservatives! In other words, the so-called Conservative Victory Project will target genuine conservatives for defeat – not victory.

Rove has set up a new front group deceptively called the “Conservative Victory Project.” According to a report in the New York Times, this group will “recruit seasoned candidates and protect Senate incumbents from challenges by far-right conservatives and Tea Party enthusiasts who Republican leaders worry could complicate the party’s effort to win control of the Senate.”
The Conservative Victory Project, in other words, is designed to make sure genuine conservatives don’t get to run or be elected to the House and Senate. What this group is going to do is protect the Republican Establishment candidates from legitimate challenges from social conservatives.

I was on Capitol Hill on Thursday, January 3rd as the 113th Congress was sworn in. Only families of the Members are allowed at the actual swearing, but I attended reception with some of those that were elected with the help of the PAC of which I am the chairman. My PAC helped elect socially conservative Senators Cruz (R-TX) and Deb Fischer (R-NE). Please note that note a single economic conservative candidate backed by Karl Rove’s PAC won. Every candidate Rove backed that ran away from social issues lost.
